Florals

I was almost grown before I realized that my view of the world was somewhat different. I thought that everyone drew purple cows and orange cats. I thought that everyone noticed the spectactacular skies and long shadows and the shapes and colors that define the hour of the day or the changes of the seasons. I discovered that I lived and worked among people who used the left, more analytical sides of their brains.  Functioning mostly from my right brain, I found it difficult to fit into that world until I discovered art and became an artist. At last I could see the value of my differences, and as I gained confidence from self-expression,I found that I could contribute to that world. The vivid, translucent colors that can be achieved from watercolor entranced me the minute I was introduced to it by a friend. Using a somewhat tight, controlled technique, my painting became easier and more enjoyable when I began painting favorite collectables, realistic florals and the local landscapes that have become the very basis of my art. I have recently begun incorporating figures into my work and am exploring portraiture. An avid photographer--very amateur--I use my own photos of my favorite places and set up my own still lifes. I love sharing my visual experiences and enjoy seeing a response to my work by others.
